Friday the 13th : Turning 31

I’m feeling like there is a bit of a Freaky Friday thing happening with this whole Friday the 13th, and it being my 31st birthday. I can see the numbers 1 and 3 and 3 and 1  swirling on the screen as if something really wild is about to happen as soon as the swirling stops.

I love birthdays! I’m not big on parties, but I’m huge on celebrating all the little things I feel so thankful for. Call me a little eccentric, but I always close out my year by recognizing all my lasts, and I love starting my birthday by honoring all of my firsts for the year. Last coffee, first coffee, last kiss, first kiss. You get the idea.

Birthdays also serve as a beautiful time for reflection and gratitude. This past year was a DOOZEY! In summary it was year of unbelievable happiness, unparalleled sadness, a desperate clinging to hope, an inconceivable amount of love and support, and true beauty from ashes experience!

This morning, Jonathon and I were sitting at Corina Bakery, sharing our “first” cappuccino’s together, and he told me that today was a blessed day and I had so much to be thankful for. The perfection of that moment is indescribable. There is nothing so precious as pausing to recognize how beautiful life is, and how much there really is to be thankful for.

So today, I’m starting my new year with a heart of gratitude, and choosing to let an unreserved joy wash over me.

With that said, I want my first blog post of 31 to start with sharing  just a few things I am abundantly grateful for:

  1. My husband and very best friend. He’s my rock and my joy and my life is so rich and full because we’re in it together. I will never stop thanking Jesus for blessing me with such an incredible guy.
  2. Our home. I’ve never been so proud of a decision we’ve made together as I am of our choice to buy this tiny little cottage. It’s the perfect little place to call home and I am so grateful for the many memories that will be made in this space.

3. Motherhood. Shortly after we put an offer on our house, we found out we’d be bringing a baby into that second little bedroom. And to this… I have no words to describe the joy I feel in this precious season of entering motherhood.

4. A Double Portion! Just days after we received the keys to our new house, we learned there would be TWO little loves to fill our home this June! I literally feel as though my heart is exploding with joy and gratitude and expectation.

In summary today is a happiest birthday indeed, and I’m so thrilled to be sharing our exciting news with all of you!

Happy Friday the 13th friends.
